Serving the community

Charity is one of the many noble causes which every Freemason holds dear to their heart. As we all whether Freemason or non-mason long to make our mark on the world and hopefully make the world in general a better place for us all to live. One place where we can all start to achieve this is by helping the local community and organisations which, like us, wish to help those in need.

To this end, we have created this section of our website so that visitors can have a better grasp and understanding of what we both stand for and the type of work we engage in to help our local community.

Charity

The values of Freemasonry are based on integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness. Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole – both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.

From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of orphans, the sick and the aged. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given to national and local charities.

Masonic charity is exercised at every level: individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own communities and every Province also gives large sums of money to regional causes. Nationally, our efforts are channelled through four main charity organisations, of which, more can be read via the following links:
